Marietta’s Old Vine Red Lot 69 is loaded with spice, leather, tobacco and ripe cherry flavors. Pliant, supple and inviting, this delicious Zinfandel-based red makes a great by the case purchase or house pour. Syrah, Petite Sirah, Grenache, Barbera and Carignane round out the blend. $15.00 (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, February 2019)

Like me, needs at least 15 minutes to wake up or you might find it a bit rude at first. Pretty tannic for a zinfandel, but opens up quickly to some nice cherry and spice flavors. Kind of alcoholic on the nose and the start of the finish (if that makes sense), but the finish is long enough that it ends somewhere very pleasant.

Why can't all California red blends be like this? A supple, medium bodied red with cherry flavors that jump out and a silky backbone. Tremendous value!
