Insanely complex. Starts out meaty with chalky crushed candy heats on the nose. On the palate, hints of fresh plums persist but maraschino cherry and dried fig take over. Salami, anise, pink peppercorn, straw, dried rose petal, tar, tobacco, leather.

Not quite as exotic, complex, as the Sitia 1999, but still singing with the Provençal-Arabic voice making Crete so unique. Native rootstock, century old, thoughtfully SO2'd, Liatiko from Ziros.

Like Barolo, but if it came from Greece. This was ready to drink, maybe even a bit past its prime, but it was delicious. Very aromatic.
