Savuto (Classico) Gaglioppo Blend

A delicious red blend from Calabria made with indigenous grapes. Dried fruits, prune, fig, leather and earth. Sausage please!

Really delightful obscure grapes as all get out southern Italian wonderment. Superb blend

45% Gaglioppo, 45% Aglianico, 10% of indigenous grapes. Ruby red color, red cherry, candies cherry, red berries, blackberry, a bit dusty with a touch of smokiness and savoriness, med plus tannin, med body, med plus acidity. Great value wine from Calabria.

Oh long time no see! What a yummy wine ripe black cherry soft tannins and a kiss of cranberry lifted by a great acidity, an amazing value, Calabria nostrana!

Smooth, balanced, with lush fruit, sweet tannins. Screams for sausage and peppers!

This was such a fruity and spicy surprise. Flavors were such an interesting blend from the various grape varieties. Enhanced my sushi dinner and spiciness.

Dark fruit + leather + softish tannins + inexpensive. Nice body too.

Gaglioppo and southern Italian blend. Savory, jammy, and juicy, more fruit-forward than I was expecting but dry enough. Well rounded, soft, not very tannic, low acid. Ripe plums, prune, crushed berries, cranberry, touch of tobacco and oak and earthy funkiness. And a bargain! From Flatiron Wines.

I think I could live off crusty bread, olive oil, and this wine. Had them all together at Supper in NYC and they were 👌. It was expensive in the restaurant but seeing its actual retail cost, I'm going to start looking for it at the store! Excellent value.
