Monterey County Petite Sirah Petit Verdot

Vintage 2020 | 80% petit sirah 20% petit verdot. Smooth taste.

Tintin-esque label, 80/20 Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot. What will those oddball winemakers in Monterey County concoct next? In any case, a welcome find at my local supermarket. Dense burgundy red, high pigment extraction. Floral and cherry notes in nose. Cherry, raspberry and blueberry flavors up front, seed tannin and more skin astringency on finish. Thinnish body but definitely not alcoholic which is restrained at 13.5% alc/vol. Slightly peppery flavor emerges after 20 minutes; some underlying phenol character takes longer to resolve. Good fruit forward Cali table red, good value

Honestly, all we used this for is devil’s margarita floats. It’s standout for what we needed.

Shawn didn't love it but I thought it was a happy medium between a bold red and a boring red

Intense burgundy red with leather and fruit loops on the nose. Dense jam and sweet berries flavor with hint of tobacco and earthy tones.

Good wine. Bold flavor, slight pepper notes

One of my favorites so far. Deep plummy color.
