Ochota Barrels
Texture Like Sun Sector Adelaide Hills Red Blend
Juicy, volatile, and tremendously flavorful for its sub-13% abv, it has the sweet fruit and spice of typical Grenache blends, on a leaner, fresher frame. Much better when served chilled, even cold, and no doubt would perform even better with six months of bottle age. Nonetheless, the perfect wine to liven up a heavy pork belly sandwich from bougie AF Eataly. Minus one point for horrific label design and one point for, at this price, why not just buy some really good Beaujolais or something.

Jan 13th, 2018This is their "Field Blend " which seems like a blend of bits and pieces left over at the end of vintage. This is 75% Pinot Noir and then an eclectic blend of Grenache, Shiraz, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay and Riesling- unlikely bedfellows! This wine was fresh and clean with bright acid and spice. The red fruits of the Pinot shine through but even the small % of Gewurtztraminer is there with its lychee qualities- such an aromatic grape. Perfect Match with Thai Red Duck Curry.

Apr 28th, 2017I always thought of Taras as a smart winemaker. Technically brilliant, with a lo-fi philosophy. It really shows in his wines - real crowd pleasers with the ability to satisfy the most VA-sensitive winemakers to the biggest natty freaks. No different here! This was destroyed on the table. Crunchy, nervy red blend (Pinot Noir, Grenache, Gamay, Gewürztraminer, Syrah, Pinot Gris, Merlot, Riesling, Chardonnay) that is built for glugging. Mix of bright red and black fruits, spicy, herby, plain delicious.
