Just had a coravin taste of the 18. Really drinking well right out of the body. Mellowing out, big fruit, great structure, softening up for a great mouthfeel. This is gonna be really good soon.

Sep 1st, 2023Same comments as before. Didn’t realize I had pulled one of these just a few weeks ago. Oops. Still have a few left I’ll remember to let sit. Drinking well for an ‘18. Still needs a solid 45+ min decant now though. Dense nice mouthfeel. Black and red fruit, wet earth, sweet tobacco. Smooth chewy tannins. Nice acidity that’ll let this age nicely for another 8-10 years. Good smooth finish. Alcohol hidden pretty well.

Jul 11th, 2022Similar notes as before. This bottle less tight at open. Almost black. Tannins chewy and coating the mouth. Beautiful black and red fruit. This is really shaping up great.

A bit shy on the nose - but getting cherry and forest. Ruby colored. Pretty smooth for an ‘18, considering the 17 was a bit tight at this age. Decanted 40 min. Nice ripe cherry, vanilla, oak. Long finish. High alcohol but not too obvious. Pretty smooth tannins. This one should be great in a few years. Already drinking very smooth and mellow with a decant.

Oct 14th, 2021Same notes as before but I can tell it’s starting to come of age. Still young and tight, but I’m starting to see more nuances, darker fruit, well balanced. A few more years and I think this guy will be really good. From Nine Suns so of course it will be!

Dark red fruit - black cherry and plum, raspberry; chocolate, coffee, graphite, pepper, plush tannins, well integrated acidity, high ABV but hides it well. Medium finish. Will be interesting to see this evolve over next few years in the cellar.
