Douro Valley....I am coming for you on Friday. On day 2 this is the real deal. Day 1 was tight on the palate with good aromatics. On day 2 the palate was expansive and impeccably balanced. Blueberry, raspberry, spice and schiste minerality fan out at a good pace and ate persist through a long finish. 13.5 abv this retains excellent freshness and a mildly racy acidity. #niepoort #douro

Oct 15th, 2015A bright and electric red color. Shows good freshness in the nose and palate. A whiff of oak virtually disappears on the palate. Still a baby so we'll see where the next bottle ends up but was expecting a little more nuance, depth and complexity as this is pretty tight at the moment. The mouthwatering acidity, crushed-rock minerality, floral and red fruit notes as well as the firm tannic backbone show good promise.

My first 🇵🇹 Rose beyond Mateus & it’s rather refreshing in the 🌞 with a nice platter of cheese, meat & pickles 😁 scroll for pic ⏩ Got given it free but I’d happily pay the £17 retail 😎 Nothing complex but certainly very quaffable & quite 🇫🇷 Provence in style 👍

I was worried that this would be past it’s prime by now-Ha! Not even close. Deep, heavy, dark, tannic as hell, but really smooth- I could have waited another 5 years. My good fortune that the winery is back in Vancouver for this week’s wine fest!
