2004. Decanted an hour and still this showed pretty tart and lean. Fleshed out a bit with more time in glass but still this wasn't showing well. Dumb phase, or just another disappointing 2004?

2006 vintage. Red berry, earth and leather, some savoury spice. A wonderful bouquet that is not over whelming. Palate offers sweet fruit, soft but present tannins. Acidity is on the medium plus side but is well integrated. Red cherry fruit profile and plush. This is a very decent St Denis. While long, it lacks the persistence of an outstanding wine. NB: with an hour in the glass, coffee and burned earth notes to the fore.

Still young, but it's in great primary development. Paired well with five-spiced duck.
