Nicolas Champagneux
Côte-Rôtie La Dedicace
Dynamite vintage of this with incredible freshness. Nose is full of dark berries and herbs but also a bit reduced for now. Some granite and crushed stones as well. Palate is so nimble and juicy. Elegant, rich and concentrated with big velvety tannins that are so supple. Fantastic. After 3 hours now it’s silky and seductive. Amazing texture.

Dec 16th, 2023More formal notes soon. Champagneaux is a star. Stunning.
Nose has gorgeous red berry and cassis fruit along with blackberry essence and bittersweet cocoa from judicious oak usage. Earthy, minerals and granitic. Stunning nose. Palate is so silky, elegant and juicy. Concentrated and nimble. Lovely icing on a cake treacly texture and terrific energy and verve. Long finish. Just a brilliant wine. One of the most accessible top 18’s I’ve had. Tannins are silky and velvety. So sweet. This needs 5 years for oak to integrate and then I see a 9.8. Wow.

@Delectable Wine this is a new producer. Nicolas Champagneaux. What a wine. I love this in 2016. Gorgeous nose. Little bit of wood, zany florals, complex violets and iris, wow, some game, so bright, palate is an exercise in finesse and precision. Juicy and linear but with just unreal finesse and precision. Fresh and juicy with lovely almost cassis fruit and light blackberry. Gorgeous. Needs a bit of time to integrate the wood but it is all there. Very precise and lingering finish.
