The age here is doing great things for this wine. Another Merlot--without as much structure and as strong a backbone--would have easily fallen flat. This is like the holidays in a glass: sugar plums and a variety of both baking and cooking spices.

Big wine, tastes much bigger than a Merlot. Lots of fruit and leather. This would pass more as a Cabernet or Meritage.

I reviewed this same wine and vintage a few months ago.. Signature plum that you would get from any Merlot with strong oak and cedar... Nice ripe fruit gives the 15% ABV... Drinks heavier than it should... Still a treat to try...
