Myattsfield
The Factotum Chardonnay
I love having a stash of Myattsfield Chardonnay in our 'cellar' from their Tete a Tete a Trois challenge a couple of years ago (travellingcorkscrew.com.au/myattsfield-chardonnay-challenge).
The 2014 'The Factotum' was created by winemaker Josh Uren and used oak staves during the making of it - you can find out all the technical details in the post above. Here's how it tasted a couple of years down the track...
Yellow-green colour on the eye with tropical fruits and grapefruit coming through on the nose doused with white pepper. The palate is easy drinking with vibrant yet smooth flavours and wonderfully balanced fresh citrus acidity. It's interesting to compare my notes from two years ago and the fact that white pepper and grapefruit are still so apparent! We enjoyed this tipple with soup 🍜 and soldiers 👌
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #tcweekdaywine #tctastingnotes

This 'Factotum' 2014 was the second one in the Tete a Tete a Trois Chardy challenge last year. You can read more about this interesting approach to winemaking here: http://travellingcorkscrew.com.au/myattsfield-chardonnay-challenge/
This one was crafted by Josh Uren who joined the Myattsfield team in 2012. Instead of going into barrel, new oak staves were used for this one. You can read more of the technical wine geek speak about the wine in the blog post above. FYI - 'factotum' means: an employee who does all kinds of work.
Baby yellow colour on the eye. The nose is creamy yet light & fresh - it makes me think of pineapple and mango yoghurt with a hint of vanilla and apricots. The palate is nicely balanced with spiced citrus acidity on the finish that puckers the mouth. And then all of a sudden the contents in the bottle vanished 👻
