If you haven’t come across @myattsfield_vineyards in the Perth Hills yet, you’re missing out! I picked up this 2015 Semillon on a visit to the cellar door as I couldn’t get enough of it. I would of loved to have held onto this bottle for a few more years, but alas I’m impatient!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The grapes 🍇 were sourced from 3 different vineyards in the Perth Hills for this wine. One of those vineyards was planted back in the excellent year of 1986. This wine has seen time in oak alongside having had a bit of lees stirring action. These winemaking techniques help with the aromatics and texture of the wine. Right now the wine is super fresh but if you can hold onto it for a few more years it’ll become nice and toasty & rich 🤤
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My tasting note 📝 It’s a pale yellow colour in the glass. Hints of lanolin, floral grassiness, gooseberry and lime skin citrus rise from the glass. While in the mouth it’s creamy with bright acidity. It’s a dry, crisp and incredibly refreshing wine.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
