Lunch with friends at home on Saturday. Thanks for bringing this aged gem @Jim Hunter Mid gold in colour. It’s amazing how Semillon puts on weight as it ages. Lanolin and beeswax - you would swear this was aged in oak barrels but it is stainless steel all the way. Not as complex as other old Lovedales or Tyrrells Vat 1 I have had but still impressive. More gold medals than Michael Phelps!!

Nov 17th, 2019Difficult to appreciate after the sweeter wines. This was stunning when I last tasted it 2 years ago. Lemon minerality with some toasty notes developing.

Sep 10th, 2016Good Hunter Semillons need at least 15 years IMO and this 1998 Lovedale was an absolute delight. Beeswax and Lanolin notes with a hint of honey. Lovely long and refreshing palate and only 11% alcohol.
More medals than Mark Spitz and deserves every one of them. 19.
