There are many tasting notes of mine on Delectable over several vintages as it has always been one of my favourite Australian reds. Dark Ruby with a lighter crimson edge. White ground pepper with fresh spices and black fruits (black cherry). Charcuterie. Ticks so many boxes. The only disappointing aspect has been the steady increase in price to now be sitting at around $200 reflecting its status in the Australian red wine hierarchy.

One of my favourite Australian Shiraz blends for a long time. Back when I bought this it was $95 but now unfortunately about double that. Deep Ruby in colour. Aromas of Spice, pepper and red fruits. Medium weight palate of cherry, plum and a touch of aniseed. The palate might be medium weight but the intensity is medium ++ which makes it one of Australia’s best cool climate Shiraz. From the ancient soils of the Grampians. From a drinking window this will still be drinking well leading up to 2030.

Previous notes apply. Drank a bottle on 21 September 2019. An atypical Langi. Still one of the best Shirazes in Australia but foregoing it’s white pepper notes in this warmer year hence atypical.

Mid to dark ruby. Aromas of more spice than pepper with notes of blackberry. More fruit driven than normal for a Langi Ghiran in this warmer year. Ie more Barossa/McLaren Vale than Central Victoria. For 20 years or more this has been one of my favourite Australian Shirazes for its spice pepper and minerality in normal years. Drink the next one in 6 to 12 months.

OK, was not expecting this. High-toned, minty and floral nose was heavy on raspberry fruit but still very nice. Melting tannins support a medium bodied palate that echoes the nose but folds in a little smoke and pepper, all carried to a long finish by a fine beam of acid. I rarely drink Aussie wine. Maybe I should start.
