Montes
Montes Alpha Colchagua Valley Malbec
The wine was dark purple in colour and offered an expressive nose which started off with reductive notes (rubber and rotten eggs) that blew off with air, opening-up to blackberry, chocolate and spices as well as hints of cooked red cabbage, tar, ashtray and graphite. On the flavourful palate the wine showed ripe dark fruit, blackberry, prune, chocolate, coffee, spices, cigarette smoke and tar, paired with med-lvl acidity, medium to medium-plus well-integrated tannin, a slightly creamy mouthfeel and very good length. A med- to full-bodied, round, very well-Balance Malbec with good concentration. May be consumed now, but also showed potential for further development with moderate cellaring. A superb Malbec! 91

Неплохо в аромате: слегка повяленые ягоды, немного пыльно древесного тона, немного специй. Во рту мощная кислотность, несколько резковатое, с ощутимой горчинкой

Nov 5th, 2015I’ve never liked a malbec more. Sorry Mendoza! Deep dark purple color. It’s big and bold but approachable somehow. Sweet licorice and plum on the nose. Nice combination of dark fruit, spice, and a charcoal but bright finish. Decanted 90 mins. An absolute bargain from Chile. I’m going to buy as much as I can at $16.
