Being a CA wine history buff (and admittedly a wine necrophiliac!) I always have difficulties seeing "flaws" in weird/special wines from an era long gone.
This wine for some reason had me think of a diluted version of Ch. Talbot. Bretty. But still enjoyable if you have an open mind.....

This perhaps gives a new meaning to the term “still wine.” Fill level: low shoulder. Cork shattered on opening, had to use the port filter. Yes, it’s still wine, a bit brown around the edges, surprisingly sweet in the mouth. A bit port like in fact. Too bad the winery did not invest in better corks, or that I had opened it 20 years ago.....
