Rare grape and small appellation. Had my first one at Gelina in LA many years back. This has character - touch bitter for sure lots of cherries 🍒 . Good acidity. Quite hot and spicy. Fun but not as unique as that first one at Gjelina.

Juicy purity and freshness like a Beaujolais, but with a sense of Piemonte terroir. Italy is the king of varietal diversity, and Ruchè is definitely "out there" in terms of exotic rarity. I'd never heard of it. Very much worth seeking out. Fruit character is dark and wild yet vibrant - think wild blueberries or mulberries. Nice aromatics. Medium body and finish. Superb with a nice whitefish steak over risotto cake, grilled mushrooms, and artichoke purée.

Light front, good middle, finishes on a coffee / cocoa finish. Medium tannins, moderate glycerin, dry but not arid. Finishes quickly.

Oct 23rd, 2016Ok a very rare grape from Italy Ruche - let's see - had this grape before but this wine is atypical and generic. Lacks the rose pedal quality so characteristic for the varietal. Hot. Tastes like a Zin sweet. May be corked. 👎👎👎. Don't buy.

Color wise it's almost a darker version of rose. Perfumed, floral, and maybe a bit strawberry on the nose. Light to medium body, white wine like freshness with minerality and just enough tannins to give it backbone. Very unique. Would like to taste one from another vintage or winery to compare.
