Transparent, bright purple garnet. Ash, black tea (not too strong), sour cherry on the nose and medium full palate. Firm, but not strident, tannins and lip-smacking medium acidity make it an excellent pairing with foods low and high. Hard to go wrong with Barolo’s less handsome twin.

Not bad for a budget Barbaresco. Dark pour. Nose of rose petal and a hint of iodine and Italian herbs with dark dusty red fruits. Entry of this wine is a bit more acidic than I thought it would be. Black cherry, hint of cola, hint of anise. Middle is more terroir-driven. Finishes with black cherry fruit, green olive, tobacco leaf, black tea, truffle. Round character but honestly quite a bit of stiff oak tannin still present that dried the tongue. Impressed. I was honestly expecting this wine to be much lighter, more raspberry and cherry notes. At the price paid, this is honestly quite a steal. You can hold this, but I don't think anymore time in bottle is going to help all that much.

Mouthwatering acidity. Loved it with a pizza.

Brick red with light sediment. Floral aromatics of red roses and star anise. Hints of charred oak. Cherries abound too, with a candied style - think red starburst. Juicy, well balanced palate that dives into a dried fruit, tannic finish. Strawberry candy, the ones in the strawberry wrapper, stand out on the palate. Tart cherry and cranberry too. Mid palate sweetness transitions to a long finish. Well made, old world meets new in style. Cellar this for at least 5 more years, will last beyond that.

Still decent tannins, but more on the front, slightly grippy still. Aroma reminds me of an unfinished cement basement. Hints of prunes, cigar box.
