Poised and powerful. Definitely a load of fruit - plum and berry pleasantly shrouded in dusty tannins with warm spices underneath.

Delectable Blue

Before decanting, the wine had a very sweet attack on the front palate, with a definite stewed fruit taste. I was not expecting to enjoy the wine at all.

After decanting for 3 hours, the wine became much more approachable. There is still a sweetness on the font of the palate, predominately tasting of mulberry and boysenberry. A flavour profile I haven’t encountered in a shiraz before. The stewed flavours seem to have abated and there is now a complex mid-palate that was not evident earlier, with aniseed, smoky mocha and burnt caramel. Weird, but it kind of works. I appreciate the uniqueness of the wine, and there’s enough complexity to keep me intrigued, but don’t think I’ll be lining up for more.
