Miguel Torres
Grans Muralles Conca de Barbera Garnacha Blend
Big dark and tannic. This will live a long time.

Apr 1st, 2021Earthy, spicy and toasty. lightly overmature bottle with root vegatable, meatstock tones, but tannins are ripe, acidity lively and fruit intensive, therefore a good bottle is easily worth to keep at least a decade more. This bottle 90p, better sealed probably +93p

Mar 4th, 2015Last night’s late decision to join the First Saturday share a bottle and food was a smart one. While there were a number of wines to taste, I only had time to try a few. My contribution was a garnacha from Catalina, Spain - the Familia Torres Grans Muralles. The 2016 Grans Muralles is a harmonious blend of garnacha, cariñena, and monastrell. Wishing I had more of that one because it was pretty spectacular.
Familia Torres is located in Conca de Barberà in the far northern inland sector of Tarragona and due west of Barcelona. The region is primarily known for Cabernet, the Torres family has been quietly planting indigenous grape varieties in the region.

After being wowed by 08 & 10 blends, this €65 04 was exciting to try & wow did it go well with steak pie 🐮
🍇 Monastrell, Garnacha, Garro, Samso & Carinena
🍷Dark ruby red w/ purple hue
👃Sweet blackberry/currant, mocha & wet earth w/ liquorish, burnt oak & vanilla hints
👄 Med+ silky body of spiced earthy dark blackberry/currant w/ sweet red berry & woody mocha - dry tannin evident
🎯 Long powerful earthy black & red fruit mocha finish w/ drying slight sweet end
Great now but will age for 10yrs 👍
