Sep 4th, 20162013V. The heat index reads 104F, so I reached for a cool white from one of my favorite winemakers: Michael Gassier. This bottle is from his self named line, and is a mix of 65% colombard and 35% viognier. On the nose is a fruit basket: a little bit of ripe peach, orange peel, pineapple. The fruit is also present on the palette, awash in a gentle wash of refreshing acidity. Lush body with medium weight and a good finish. A quaffable wine on its own, but works even better as a support to food. A nice alternative to a fresh, unoaked California chardonnay. 12.5% ABV.
