Michael David Winery
Earthquake Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon
Keeping with the trend of Michael David wines (and the Earthquake name) this is a very bold, fruit forward Cabernet that is designed to grab you attention. Cranberries on the nose and palate, smooth and plenty of punch. This is not a smooth, subtle, deeply complex wine. But is to Cab Sav what America has done to IPA. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

3 people found it helpfulDec 27th, 2015This reminded me of Louis Martini Sonoma Cab. A little hint of sweetness that I don't care for. Really dark. Basically a dark purple. This can't be my night-cap on Christmas. Gotta find something better.

Full bodied and Bold, with high acidity and awesome legs.
After an hour of opening up, gorgeous nose with blackberries, blueberries, currants, chocolate, turmeric, vanilla, spices, cooked plums, figs, licorice and peppercorn.
Dry and fruity on the palate with black currents, figs, cherries, blackberries, dry fruits, vanilla, licorice, coffee, tobacco, Mediterranean spices and black pepper.
Long finish with spices, smooth tannins and tart cherries.
Really needs 1 hour to open up properly. Another great Cabernet from the Michael David house. Very enjoyable by itself or with a big juicy steak. I Paired it with a Moroccan chicken dish with lots of spices, and it held its own well.
This changed some from a year ago. Matured and not as abrasive.
15% alcohol by volume.

Had an after taste that reminded me of the purple Nyquil. Very dark as well. Not my favorite cabernet
