This is a magnum, so I'm not sure if the tasting notes are different than a standard bottle. This has wonderful black pepper, jam, and baking spices on the nose, as well as tree bark and coffee. And wow. Super concentrated, well balanced, and full of fruit. After 15 minutes opening there's this amazing sensation of a mouthful of juicy and delicious fruits, and it goes down so easily. The older Merus wines were the most amazing vintages, and I think the 2005 is the best of all. Stunning wine, and it's drinking well right now. What a pity that this was our last bottle, so this is a happy/sad moment. Now please excuse me while I sit back and enjoy this lovely!

Drinking beautifully with a nice balance of fruit and secondary notes. Better structure than expected considering its 15 yrs old. Quick filter & decant of 20 minutes, then opened up quickly once in the glass.

Jan 19th, 2020Brown around the edges with good legs. Black olive and sundried tomatoes on the palate, with red licorice. Flavor bomb in the mouth. Dried spices, including fennel. What an exciting wine. Merus of this vintage is never boring! Thank you Erika for another incredible bottle. You make the best wine!

Great nose, spicy on the palate with classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon flavors. Still youthful and vibrant.
