Merlot

Washington is a mystery. I am due a trip there to it discover it. Dark fruits with a rich mid-palate. I expected a sweet finish but it tricked me and finish dry. You got me this time Washington.

The Mercer Malbec looks dark ruby in the glass. The nose offers some beautiful dark fruit - plums, blackberries and currant - and sticks a lovely dose of French oak in there. A nice, savory hint of black olives lurks in the background. The palate is just as enjoyable, with a fruity focus augmented by peppery spice and cinnamon. This is a wine that will be a hit at the holiday table, no doubt. It's a festive, fun red that can hold its own with the standing rib roast.

Massively expressive nose of blackberry, tar, sage, herbs de Provence. Fruit forward black and blue fruit. Full-bodied and well put together.

Decent if unremarkable Merlot.

Solid Merlot for the price.

2008 Merlot. Picked this one for 14.9% ABV as a cough suppressant. It worked. Hoping my taste buds come back so I have a clue about its taste.

Full, fruity bouquet. Excellent flavor. Goes well with spaghetti

I didn't have high hopes for a wine I grabbed for 30% off at a grocery store that was going out of business. But I am pleasantly surprised.

Needs room to open up. A bit heavy and probably not up to my favorite standards.
