This is a very rare St-Émilion from Phillipe Melka. He made this at a Grand Cru and imported very little of it back. 2009 was a great year. This is an unbelievable Merlot.

This Melka has never been a favorite...comes as part of the wine club package. Maybe it should have been decanted?

Interesting sense and bravado to this wine... decided, somewhat codified and shy, but that's just what makes it a gem...

A beautiful floral and spice nose complimenting this traditional Bordeaux blend that bathes the palate with soft bright fruits of merlot and the back end structure of a classic cab franc. It's darn good.

Really enjoyed this after giving it a good amount of air time. Even though it's already 10 years old, would definitely benefit from another few more years of aging. 94% merlot + 6% cab franc. Grapes sourced from Château Le Châtelet.
