I’ve had a few previous vintages of this usually decent Merlot. However something is off with this vintage. I would have bet it was the 2017 fire year and was surprised when I confirmed the 2015 vintage.

Had this as part of my wife’s birthday celebration and actually had this slightly chilled. Cherry, dust and earth tones, mild licorice, hint of blueberry on the nose. Very mellow tannins and overall just a nice, enjoyable wine. Second time having this wine and would have more in the future.

I’m not usually a fan or merlot but this one did check some boxes and had great flavor.

Maybe I got a bad bottle or something. I bought this on a whim based on its rating posted at the store but it did not live up to expectations. Flavorless with an odd finish is the only way I know to describe it. Again maybe my bottle was bad. If you plan to try it proceed with caution if you haven’t had it before and know you like it.

Definitely the best looking wine bottle I've owned. Actual handprints from the winery!

Meeker Vineyard 2013 Winemakers' Handprint Merlot (SRP $45): Consumers who buy with their eyes -- and many do, would grab the Handprint Merlot in a jiffy. It is eye-catching and attractive; one of the most gorgeous bottles I’ve ever seen. And even better, the juice inside the bottle is delicious. Deep ruby-purple in color, and nearly opaque, this wine offers a poised combination of muscle, intensity, and depth. Concentrated flavors of black cherry and purple stone fruit are followed by red licorice, espresso, vanilla bean, and brown spices. A rich extracted style, chewy tannins give way to a long, fruit-driven finish. Though bursting at the seams, the acidity is firm enough to hold everything together. A very appealing Merlot that even old Miles would adore! To learn more, visit their website at meekerwine.com.
