Never had a 100% petit Verdot. It’s quite good but perhaps lacks some fruit. Most wine makers use this grape for blending to add structure and color.

Dank and dark fruit. Plenty of intensity and power.

I was surprised at the approachability of this immediately on opening. Outmatched by the Saxum but it was closer than I’d anticipated it’d be.

Quick pop and pour on Friday with tacos. A staggering dark inky purple color!! On the nose: Lite scents of graphite, cedar, maybe a little blackberry. Taste: hints of blueberry, graphite, spice and very dry tannins with low acidity and a short to medium finish.....fun to try, but you can see why Bordeaux uses small amounts of Petit for color and tannin structure!

Very enjoyable. Mike killed it across the board for 2016. What a great vintage.

This experience is similar to my last, 1.5 years ago, in that the wine is a little underwhelming on opening but really blossoms with 1-2 hrs of air. By then, the dark fruit is buttressed by an interesting spiciness on the back end. The tannins are well behaved. Probably has several good years to go but, unfortunately, this was my last bottle.

This is very drinkable on opening. I think the 2014 was more austere and tight. Nice petit verdot. So lush.
