Oak Knoll District Merlot

An interesting and tasty merlot. Worth a look!

In my glass, the enduring 2009 Materra Merlot, crafted with estate fruit from the Oak Knoll District in the Napa Valley, source of some of Napa's best merlot. Still showing floral and fruity aromatics, delicious black and red fruits, dusty cocoa, and spice. $40, purchased at the winery.

Finally tasted wonderful wines from Materra in the Oak Knoll district of Napa. Estate vineyard. Supple Merlot with tannins of velvet. Deep blackberry notes.

Damp basement nose, paper thin beautiful plum and raspberry, delightfully vital tannins on the back end for finish.

Not much of a merlot drinker, but this is really good.

Needs to open up in the glass. After that quite delicious. Hint of cassis and plums. Went very well lamb shoulder casserole.
