Hidden Block Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Pretty nose of blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, cedar, licorice, vanilla, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, light wild flowers and black pepper.

Medium plus in body and smooth, with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate and fruit forward with blackberries, plums, sweet cherries, spices, vanilla, tobacco, peppercorn, cedar, licorice, cola and chocolates.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious 5 years old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Elegant and rich. Fruit forward and complex.

Good right out of the bottle, and better with some airtime. Tastes very fresh and young. Well balanced and complex.

I had the 2014 vintage a few years ago and loved it as well. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

This Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is easy drinking and good by itself or with food.

A blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. Aged in (60% new) French oak barrels for 20 months.

15.2% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

Oak Knoll District Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Pale lemon in color with a golden hue.

Pronounced nose of citrus, apples, spices, melons, grapefruits and white pepper.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with limes, grapefruits, citrus, green apples, guava, spices, light herbs and black pepper.

Nice finish with spices.

This is a very enjoyable Sauvignon Blanc from Napa Valley.

Fruit forward and tangy with nice balance. Bright and refreshing. A nice, good quality, new world Sauvignon Blanc.

A good food wine, and good by itself as a sipping wine by the porch or pool.

Cunat Reserve Merlot 2014

#MerlotThursday.

Dark inky in color with a short reddish rim.

Nice fruity nose of black cherries, blueberries, blackberries, vanilla, chocolates, coffee, light earth, tobacco, spices and peppercorn.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and nice legs.

Dry on the palate with black plums, black cherries, blueberries, oak, light vanilla, Indian spices, licorice, coffee, herbs, peppercorn, earth, graphite, dark coffee, dark chocolates, coke and tobacco.

Long tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.

This is a very nice Merlot from Napa Valley. Soft, smooth and tangy. Elegant with a nice mouthfeel. Well made with nice balance and complexity.

Easy drinking and good by itself or with food.

This six-year-old from a good vintage in Napa would be better in the next 5 to 7 years.

This is not the big Napa red one might expect, but rather elegant, with a lighter mouthfeel.

Needs time to open up properly. I gave it 3 hours. After 4 hours of airtime it became very spicy. Interesting to see. I'd love to check it again in 3 years.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in 100% French oak barrels for 22 months. A small production of only 180 cases.

14.2% alcohol by volume.
