Perfumed with peppermint and undertones of fennel. Red fruits and black olive on the palate but very balanced and smooth. One of the better Rhônes I've tasted.

2011, Mas De Bagnols, Cotes du Vivarais, 50% Grenache/50% Syrah. Got half a case for less than $10 a bottle. Good, every night Rhone blend. Has more characteristics of Syrah than Grenache. Savory, earthy and black fruit. A little past it's prime but I like the secondary flavors that dominate the palate. Good juice for the price.

Apr 21st, 20162011, Mas De Bagnols, Cotes du Vivarais, 50% Grenache 50% Syrah. New AOP for me. Lots of dark fruit, dark chocolate, coffee, wet dirt, violets. Good bottle of wine for $10. Acidity, alcohol and tannins are well balanced.
