Les Elotins Côte-Rôtie Syrah

Nose has huge blackberry and granite. Some leather and a hint of brett that gets well integrated with air. Dark flowers and some huge herbals and well. Very complex but still primary. Palate is very 16, juicy, loose, elegant and crunchy with terrific granitic intensity on the finish. Really balanced and pure. Classic.

Nose is peppery, floral, earth and complex. A bit sauvage. Leather, cassis, flowers, hint of barnyard. Will blow off as this is rare if ever an aspect of Billon. Palate is full of fruit and fresh. Lovely acidity and refinement. Needs air as this is a bit out of sorts now but all the components are there. Sweet fruit and velvety sweet tannins and great concentration. Good length. I’ll be back.

This really didn’t get that much better with air. Came together but still a 9.2.

some sweet oak spice, black pepper, blackberry, blueberry, violet, dark chocolate, briny black olive, sage/rosemary/thyme-like aromatics. sweet well integrated tannins. full bodied and great with burgers!
