This is an outstanding wine.

It a clear deep ruby colour.

The nose is extremely complex clean and pronounced. Aromas of red fruit (cranberry, strawberry) vanilla, coconut, chocolate, coffee and leather.

The palate is dry and acid is medium (+) as is the alcohol. The tannins are high but smoothed via bottle age. The flavours are pronounced and just as complex as in the nose. The body is full and the finish long.

Completely outstanding wine. I had it from a Coravin, I would love to try it decanted.

3 hrs in decanter released vibrant, complex elegant aromas of flowers, coffee, vanilla, violets, chocolate, cherry, wet fallen leaves, red berries confiture, dried plum, black currant. Good acidity, med-full body & long finish. Rich beautifully balanced top wine of ‘new Rioja’ style. 80-110 old vines. Temranillo w/ 20% CabS. Controlled temp maceration at 26C in big oak barrels, 20 mo aging in french oak barriques & kept in bottles for 1-2 more years. Great work by Paul Pontallier of Chateau Margaux! Rating 4,2/5

Earthy. Opening up nicely. Works well with a carne paella.
