Lamaione Castelgiocondo Toscana Merlot

This one divided us. I thought its best days were behind it, but my father thought it was terrific.

1 person found it helpfulAug 4th, 20141998 and very satisfying on the anniversary of my marriage of the same year. Gorgeously developed nose of red plum and cherry cordial with hint of mint. A touch disjointed with angular tannins for drying Finnish that lasts. The nose is 98 but the texture is 89 so we rate the middle.

Full, significant French oak on the nose and well integrated into the palate. Long, firm and fresh.

Merlot round table: bold and oak driven. Doesn't taste particularly Italian

A guilty pleasure wine to say the least. Chocolate covered cherries steeped in cherry cordial. Some clove, mint and spice to keep it interesting. Overall it comes off a little Port-y though.
