Another Chardonnay that makes me think I don’t understand the process of making Chardonnay and what I’m tasting. There is no fruit on this wine. Straight reduction, was poured this as a gift glass by a Somm who was all smiles about how cool it was. I don’t get it. I need to go to Beaune. I need to taste with people who know their shit and can explain to me what I’m tasting and what and if these wines will evolve into something they aren’t currently. I need to understand what domestic producers are striving for and if they are hitting the mark or making poorly crafted sulfuric wines...

2022/5/15 with shellfish porchetta, straw-seared bonito carpaccio, etc. Lemon meringue tart, cold butter, iodine and peat smoke on the nose; the palate follows suit, with a nice blend of mineral, acid and sweet fruit elements. In my most recent safari of (relatively) reasonably priced white Burgundies, this is a good one.
