Majella
The Musician Coonwarra Cabernet-Shiraz Blend
This wine must be the best value red in Coonawarra and also from the great 2018 vintage. Excellent value at $17.50 per bottle. Initial aromas of mint and blackberry. Excellent structure for such an inexpensive red. Bought this at the Cellar Door exactly a year ago when we were in Coonawarra doing vintage at Bellwether. Around 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Shiraz. Weirdly, another thing I liked was the really light empty glass bottle.

Aug 10th, 2015Real peppery and herbal on nose, medicinal I would say. Palate is suave but with a bit too much added acidity spiking through, nonetheless gobs of black cherry and cassis fruit, and fairly balanced, a decent drink! 2011 Vintage

Jan 7th, 2015This is a lovely Aussie number. Fruit and spicy pepper come together in a lively yet balanced wine.

Nov 16th, 2019Cab Shiraz is not a blend I seek out generally, but this wine has become a staple in our area thanks to its annual presence at the Vancouver International Wine Festival. It is, in fact, a very nice blend of red and black fruit with a high red plum note coming through most clearly for me. The shiraz offers smoothing here, I think, rather than any distinct spiciness. I guess in the way that merlot adds a grounding to a blend, but without the earthiness. This music is all up in the trees. There's even a light tree bark note that completes the analogy. Very nice!
