Rich, deep, a little meaty, very earthy, all in a good way.

Kept getting better throughout the night. Found this at a remote ranch in eastern Oregon. $60. Big, spicy, red fruit...it's good

Translucent reddish purple with amber rim. Initially there are some reductive notes on the nose which blow off with air revealing lovely aromas of damp earth, red currants, cranberries, vanilla, and cloves. Light and elegant in style on the palate with bright red berry fruit and tart, mineral finish. This is a very pretty Burgundy by Nicolas Potel from a Premier Cru vineyard in Volnay.

Just opened. Needs air. Still apparent reduction, but starting to blow off.. A damn fine example of good Volnay. Very drinkable.
