Ruby in color with a wide purplish rim.

Stinky nose of plums, cherries, licorice, oak, barnyard, forest floor, smoke, green pepper, peppercorn, earth, graphite, herbs and spices.

Medium bodied with medium acidity and nice legs.

Dry on the palate with plums, oak, strawberries, raspberries, earth, wet rocks, tobacco, vegetables, dirt and black pepper.

Medium finish with round tannins and tart cranberries.

This is a nice Syrah from Northern Rhône. Not fully balanced, but showing mild complexity. Tart with a watery mouthfeel.

Needs an hour to open up properly. Better with food than all by itself. Not my style, but drinkable.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

Comes in a little too hot for me. Just average by the glass. Oh well.

Nose of black currant, raisin, and spice. Intriguing. Lighter body for a Syrah. Subtle tastes of woodsy licorice and blackberry but disappointingly the finish dissipates quickly. The colors is beautiful. Rich purple with a pinky red halo. I had hoped for so much more.

Confused is the first word that comes to mind. If I rated this blind I’m calling Beaujolais. I am thinking carbonic maceration was used as this is exploding with cherry flavor and not the austere meaty flavors I’m used to for Syrah. A nice light wine for Monday.

A light, simple expression. White pepper, cedar, blackberry and a hint of licorice.

Bright plums and cherries. Nice color Red-Maroon. Does the southern France dance well.
