On the first day of Christmas The Wine Gallery sent to me, a bottle of Mainegra Cava Brut Nature from Spain 💃This is the first bottle in my Wine Advent Calendar as you may have seen in my video this morning 🎥🤦🏼♀️
Also in day 1 was a little tasting bottle of Grampians Olive Co’s Truffle Infused Organic EVOO 🤤
I was really excited to find a bottle of cava behind the first door of our advent calendar as Mr Spittoon and I spent 6 weeks in the Penedes region in Spain drinking cava every day back in 2011. This cava:
🍾 Is certified organic
🍾 Spends over a year on its lees
I loved it! It’s a crisp yellow colour with a golden shimmer to it in the glass. Vibrant notes of cut apples and pears with a hint of brioche and lemon tempt the nostrils. While in the mouth had a sooth & creamy mouth feel and it tastes just like you’re biting into the most delectable apple of your life. The wonderfully refreshing citrusy finish leaves your mouth watering for more 🥂

We tasted at least over 100 different Cavas so it's safe to say we like it! Hence why I picked this bottle from Mainegra for the latest #thetcwineclub tasting box. What did you guys think??
Here's my thoughts...
Crisp yellow colour on the eye with apple and lemon dominating the nose, I may have even picked up a whiff of elderflower. It has the typical Cava MO (modus operandi) on the palate - vibrant and completely refreshing. It was a great match to our fish'n'chips as it really cut through the grease.
