Here is a unique and complex Napa Valley, Petite Sirah for this Sunday evening.

Deep purple in color with a Ruby rim.

Barnyard on the nose with blueberries, blackberries, cherries, plums, black currants, cloves, green pepper, cedar, vanilla, licorice, mint, coffee, chocolates, leather, dirt, earth, spices and peppercorn.

Full-bodied and elegant, with medium acidity and great long legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, figs, raisins, plums, cherries, sweet strawberries, black currants, earth, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, cedar, toasted oak, cola, green pepper, peppercorn and spices.

A very long finish with smooth, fine-grained tannins and spices.

A great Petite Sirah with Elegance and balance. Needs to open up for a couple of hours. Good by itself or with hearty foods like lamb and steak.

I liked it except for the green pepper notes, which aren't, usually, my favorite. I figured that after six years they should disappear, but they are definitely still here.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

I LOVE straight petite syrahs. And so admittedly, as this was the last wine of the night, I'm rating this high even though I don't have the best memory of it. Need to try again.

Maybe it's the age or maybe it's the wine making...but this is tremendously elegant and velvety for such a full bodied endeavor. Forest, earth, spicy finish with a little raspberry.

A bottle that changes my mind on a varietal.

Lighter than a normal petit sirah. Super dark color, smell is a bit oily and almost a little sulfuric. Light fruity taste, but a little hint our sour after. Not complex, just get the 1st flavor and then it’s gone, like swallowing a sip of water at the end. French would call this a delicate wine =P it’s definitely an easy drink with no major flaws, just nothing special, so I wouldn’t drop too much on this.

Great balance of fruit, structure and finesse in this Petite Sirah. Silky tannins give it a nice finish. I like everything Madrigal is producing. Drinking well now.

I agree with the consensus rating here. Nice wine I acquired as part of their wine club a few years ago. I enjoy their Petite Sirah's mostly, but their cabs aren't too shabby either.
