“I’m feeling like a Chardonnay, let’s go get some” - when Mr Spittoon whispers those words into my ear on a Saturday arvo, how can I resist. That’s one sexy invitation!

So off we trotted to Dan Murphy’s where we grabbed not one but two bottles of Australian Chardonnay to enjoy on the weekend. The first being this West Australian MadFish ‘Gold Turtle’ 2017 Chardonnay from Margaret River for $18. MadFish is part of Burch Family Wines.

The Gold Turtle 🐢 range is made exclusively for Dan’s and BWS. The range is made for everyday drinking at affordable prices. This 2017 Chardonnay is barrel fermented in French oak and undergoes stirring of the yeast lees post-fermentation.

It’s a pale lemon yellow colour in the glass. The nose evokes thoughts of light oak, feijoa, honey drizzled peach, minerality and a hint of smokinesss. While in my mouth it’s clean, crisp and creamy with lemon acidity and a lick of minerality. Plenty of flavour yet not in your face.

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

Beautiful pale-clear straw robe. Nose of peach, passion fruit, melon and pine. Lightly savoury taste with a medium body and light, elegant tannins. Medium, fruity finish. Lovely.
