Another 4th Friday for the books! Insane pulls this month to follow up the most epic month (April) that we’ve ever had!

Not familiar with this producer, but for a Bacigalupi Pinot, it was missing all the hallmark notes...no cola, little bing cherry, light cedar, non-existent licorice. My review here is more about what it isn’t as opposed to what it is...

2005v. Aroma of stewed strawberries, dried rose petals, and a little oak. On the palette, all of these aroma notes are integrated in a delicate manner. A good amount of body underpinning the ripe fruit. Some soft tannins that coat and hang on in the mouth on a medium finish. This 12yr old RRV pinot might be a little over the hill, but it still retains some nice fruit notes. It should be paired with cheese and simple dishes. 14.6% ABV but you'd never guess.

Dry cork, but otherwise a great wine. Picked it up for $5 at our favorite wine store as the daily special (because of the cork issue).

Rusted ruby rim showing some age. Dusty red cherry fruit, cracked black pepper, earthy undertones. Round, juicy rhubarb and red fruit on the palate. Alcohol spikes on the back end into the finish. Drink now.

Cork disintegrated for me . Slight alcohol taste. But generally good wine which improved with a little exposure to air.

Seemed over-ripe with a hint of inner tube on the nose on pop. Stewed cherries and flatfish black fruit gained life and depth with air. Turned brighter and less angular with time. Underwhelmed turning into a Monday surprise.

Cork disintegrated and had some heavy funk at first but this wine developed so very nicely. Classic RR profile, bright cherries, sous bois, supple tannins and brisk, lifted acidity and long finish. Surprising after an inauspicious start.

Black cherry cola with dirty mushrooms, soft tannins and fresh Rainier cherries. Opened up nicely with decanting, worth the time. Acidity still present, drink over the next 3 yrs.
