Macallan Distillery
18 Year Old Sherry Oak Cask Highland Single Malt Scotch
Wonderful just as it is. Don't add any water or ice.

Oct 19th, 2017Feels like the proper libation to reflect on a wonderful Napa trip. That said, can anyone tell me why the geniuses at Macallan bailed on age-naming their Scotches? This is the last of my 18's, in a class all their own, velvety smooth and a core of orange citrus and burnt rind, earthy light peat. Sweet on so many levels.

Feb 25th, 2017Still overpriced, but this scotch is still one of the richest sherry finished malts around that doesn't go overboard (as some might claim of the Aberlour Abunadh.) Thick and substantive in the mouth, it's giving with piney malt and rich red fruit from the sherry butts. Perfect neat - like all good whisky.
