Smells like, pear and guava. Lemon custard and passion fruit. Cinnamon pastry. On the tongue, lime and passion fruit. Good acidity. Will age well. Classy.

Lemon, lime, grapefruit with a mealy note. More full bodied and lush than I was expecting. Good to see it’s not a sulphidic, thin and restrained style which we see all too often these days. Pretty good - I enjoyed this from one of the up and coming young winemakers in the Yarra. Had my last bottle 24 weeks later on 1st November with different notes. This was quite lean with grapefruit notes. Not a typical Yarra Valley Chardonnay in my experience. Riper fruit would have achieved that. 90 points.

Served blind it would be touch and go for old world. Pretty sharp wine. Grapefruit, white stone fruit, acacia flowers, button mushrooms, oatmeal with a funky aniseed thing along with some minerlaity. Palate has this rippling, quartz like acidity that helps drive home a lengthy pure finish.

I like many of Luke's wines and was excited to try this but it's just so bloody tight! I pray this will broaden out as it ages. I gave it a few hours in a decanter and it still wasn't giving much, the nose isn't in any way offensive but feels a little like a not particularly great 1er Cru Chablis that's a bit more matchstick than seashell mineral, touch of Asian pear and bruised red apple fruit, there's a salinity that shows (but that's after more than 24 hours as I put it back in the bottle and tried it the following night. It was still sharp as a button on the palate but very, slight, slender and with well, just too precise, no generosity of fruit, just a 'let's lick a marble kitchen counter' supper sappy finish, taught, over precise. No doubt this will be long lived, many may even like the style but it's a bit too Bonney for me.

2012: fragrant. Lightly toasted, leesy, with a mineral note. White peach, sweet Apple. Good character and elegance.

Love the texture vs zing game here. Beautifully balanced fruit, leesy texture, acid and oak. Nice one. 2013 Vintage.

Happy #ChardonnayDay winos!! I hope you're all looking forward to cracking a great Chardy today like this 2016 Luke Lambert from the Yarra Valley. It's single vineyard, wild yeast fermented and it didn't undergo any fining or filtration. Luke's approach to winemaking is very much low-intervention.

Being #aussiewinemonth I urge you all to crack a ripper of an Australian Chardonnay today. For more info on Chardy including some frequently asked questions, check out my latest post: travellingcorkscrew.com.au/guide-to-chardonnay

On the eye this vino is slightly cloudy due to not being filtered. On the nose it makes me think of fresh bread and oranges 🍊 while on the palate it packs a punch in terms of flavour. Think creamy honeydew melon, candid grapefruit and refreshing nectarine. I loved the bright, crunchy acidity on this Chard - it was a wonderful accompaniment to our sourdough garlic bread 🍞

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #gifted #tcweekdaywine

Väldigt uttrycksfull med samtida smakprofil. Jäst och bitterljuv frukt.
