Revisiting this vintage, almost three years since my first review. Truly a stunning wine at this price point. It has developed a honeycomb and golden apple quality that is reminiscent of Loire chenin, and a combination of minerality and richness that suggests Alsace. But enough with the banal comparisons; this stands on its own as an outstanding white from indigenous varieties. A tad volatile, but it works well for the style. Terrific food companion and one of the finest values out there.

Delicious and incredibly food friendly white wine. Textured and offering the perfect compliment to level-up your next meal.

This delivers the goods, and it’s a steal. I’m increasingly turning my customers on to these traditional Portuguese varietals, and this barrel-fermented style is an excellent and often far less expensive alternative to oaked Chardonnay.

The rich butteriness of a Chard, the finish of a great Alsace wine. Power and elegance with great length. The duck man strikes again.

For nerd factor- awesome white wine, using only indigenous Portuguese grapes (Bical, Sercial, & Sercialinho).

An old-vine mandatory drink while in Portugal! Bical grape planted on clay & limestone and Cercial and Sercialinho planted on sandy soils. One day this will be the Lord of Sabaoth for those thousands of kiwi sauv blancs and bland pinot grigios. I honestly worship the wines of Luís and Filipa Pato and I am only to sorry for not drinking this wines more often. Had this with an humongous plate of bacalau that I couldn't possibly finish, I needed to leave some room for the wine. #luispato #beira #vinhasvelhas #portugal @WineTraining @Dusan Bradanovich
