Noveau de Bacchus Arbois Trousseau

Hit fire - new producer for me, but displays all of the desired characteristics of Trousseau. Will definitely be back again...and again...and again

Esoteric Jura by old-timer Lucien Aviet. Made with an ancient strain of of Chardonnay with brilliant red stalks unique to the Jura known as Melon a Queue Rouge or red-tailed Melon, the Arboisien name for Chardonnay. Aged in large old foudres for 18 months (no sign of oak though) with regular ouillage (topped-up), it is fresh, clean, precise, with tension and crushed-stone minerality, hints of kelp, salt and iodine, somewhat reminiscent of Chablis.

Gouda, salami, ripe cherries, cucumber skin

funky, but fantastic. Trousseau is usually not a grape you'd see outside of the region of Jura

We all liked it with every dish from pork chop to gnocchi the weight and balance aligned

Needed air, turned seamless if a light expression

Needs air, lighter vintage. Beautiful clear coral color. Light & pretty. 24EUR at le Grand Jardin.
