im not a fan of wines from anywhere south of the Russian river valley. I'm not a fan at all of anything from Santa Barbara. At least nothing I've drank so far. This one included. Prince died today though. I opened a bottle to help calm my emotions. Trying to figure this wine out took my mind off of today's event. I taste licorice. Dark berries. But lots of alcohol. I decanted it. No use. :(

Drank this wine with Taiwanese friends at La maison du vin in Taipei.
Merlot not being very popular in Taiwan the group was surprised by this 100% Merlot from this Los Alamos vineyard in Santa Barbara.
Alcohol at 13.5% thanks to the cool evenings of the area. 2009 Was quite exeptional due to its long mild summer.
Aromatic black cherries. Earthy, vanilla and spices. Aged in french oak, you can appreciate it's soft tannins and classic aproach .
