Who made this Louis Latour Clos Saint-Jacques 1983? I bought a case at auction about five years ago but this is the first bottle I’m opening. Totally closed for hours but when it opened up... wow! Louis Latour don’t have a parcel of the vineyard and the number of growers is limited. From what I know it’s the only vintage they have released, so clearly bought in from someone - but whom...? Once it opened up it turned into a true classic - elegant rather than chunky, with clear secondary fruit characteristics. Some pepper, but hardly any vegetal notes - just a hint of fresh soil. Fantastic acidity, with a hint of fine tannins - light and delicate. A great wine!
