Louis Jadot
Domaine Gagey Le Clou D'Orge Ladoix Chardonnay
Bright lemon color with aromas of citrus, stone fruits and flinty floral and biscuit notes. On the palate flavors of crisp apple, pear and lemon citrus with notes of white flowers and garden spice. Long finish, vivid acidity ending with citrus, bread dough and mineral spice. Nice!

Well-known as a leading grape broker (Négociant) in Burgundy, Jadot has just one vineyard of its own - Le clou d’orge in Ladoix, an AVA right next to Corton.

Jan 5th, 2023Notes are cumbersome, so no notes today but plus side, scores are honest and I should be a professional reviewer, LOL. (TBH, See my prior notes, this '13 vintage is great 5-8Y in front still.)
On the Lawn at Tanglewood this final afternoon with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our guest conductor Michael Tilson Thomas is leading IVES (Psalm 90) and BEETHOVEN (Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Opus 125).
After a two-year pause, we arrive again to the day when Beethoven concludes on these hallowed grounds. The 9th by Beethoven is always bittersweet for us, as it marks the end of the official Symphony and Pops season for the BSO at their Summer home. It is a wonderful and singularly emotive piece moved with the full force of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus (110+) conveying the message of a divine spark of joy that makes all people one. The music and the day almost bring me to tears on an annual basis...
'Freude, schöner Götterfunken!' / 'Joy, beauteous, godly spark!'

2019; Decanted 2H.
Nose has dried pineapple, wet plywood, dried lemon zest, dehydrated mango, vanilla and peach cobbler.
Palate has pineapple core, ripe yellow apple, clementine zest, mango with a nice bite of acidity.
So youthful! We're really looking ahead to how these develop over the next 6-8+ years, as that seems to be the sweet spot on this particular site. (Heck, the 2013's are still drinking amazing.)
24H Update:
Nose has overflowing pineapple & vanilla and crushed lemon peel.
Palate has warmed vanilla ice cream, mashed ripe pineapple with faded acidity. The vanilla notes are very present today.

A brief Labor Day get together with some friends.
Hot of the truck, so to speak, just picked these up a few days ago and was anxious to taste. No slouch, as good as 2018, but really wants 4-6Y to really come together.

Nose has ripening pineapple, orange peel, melted butter, warmed ripe peach and dried oak.
Palate has waxy orange peel, pineapple, Clementine juice, mild vanilla influence with light acidity and medium finish. Light on palate concentration at this stage.
Decanted 5H. Youthful, a first check on our Fall 2020 acquisitions which will go into hiding until at least 2026+
24H Update:
Nose is overflowing the Gabriel Glas with tropical fruits, ripe pineapple, pineapple core, Clementine orange zest, ripe mango but a touch of alcohol today. Palate has gentle lemon zest, pineapple, so much pineapple, just crazy! We love this wine and it only gets better with aging! Score change from 9.1 > 9.3 today. 🤯
