Black, Black, Red.
This wine has always been a go to.
At first it “ pretends “ to grip your inner cheeks, almost mimicking more tannins than it’s got. Especially in the upper palate, very mineral, a bit ferrous. Some Im my company say bloody. The nose is of crushed blackberries, graphite, earth.
But never heavy, as we’ve got Gamay here. As it sits in the glass, it takes on pinotesque qualities, texturally and less dense, more dark reds, some souis-bois.
With a Caramelized onion & Ricotta pizza, it cuts right through the sweetness and fat with bright acidity that asks for another sip. Now to find some Les Impenitents!

Red & Black, Red & Black , over and over.
Beautifully young , ‘23 stuff from Desvignes.
Opened for 3 hrs. No decant. With a dish of asparagus/shitakes/rhubarb…delicious. Earth and tart. With air and time in the glass, this develops a meatier, denser bottom and
a nice tannic backbone, always med-light body. Refreshing.

Really very nice. Quite a classic Beaujolais - couldn’t mistake for anything else. Opened 5 hours ahead, no decant, proper chill. Lots of cherry and pepper and a string of earth. Excellent mouthfeel and acid and a nice long finish. Very enjoyable and a good value.

Not quite as together as I was hoping. Gave it a good decant but it’s just a bit disjointed. Maybe just too young. Nose is promising with good fruit and minerality, and the palate mostly carries that - but in a very subdued way with a slightly almost bitter note on the finish.

Beautifully balanced and exquisitely textured. A perfect balance between impact and reserve.
