Dark color quite viscous; engine grease, green bell peppers, and fruits in the black currant, mulberry, ripe plum category; full and rich on the palate with almost unbearable concentration of fruits, high alcohol and moderate-fine tannins. In one way silky smooth; in another, like thick fruit juice. Perhaps half a decade from now I’ll try again.

Nov 15th, 2019I enjoyed drinking this unusual, “curveball” wine! It’s a bordeaux blend from South Africa — 50% cab franc, 30% merlot, and 20% cabernet sauvignon. The alcohol seemed high to me so I was thinking more of a GSM from Paso Robles, almost in the SQN style. I struggled to pick up any bell pepper/jalapeño that I usually get from cab franc.
